Homeland International provides everything required for the repatriation of your loved one from the USA. Typically, a repatriation usually takes between 5 to 7 days however in certain situations, such as if a coroner or the police are involved, this may extend the time frame slightly. Once in our care, our team will care for the person who has died, complete the embalming which is required for repatriation and prepare the coffin for international transportation back home.

Repatriation from Hawaii
We are able to support the repatriation of remains from Hawaii. The process followed is similar to other US states however the process can sometimes be complicated if there is a delay in appointing a funeral home. Hospitals in Hawaii do not have the appropriate mortuary facilities so they often contract with a local funeral home who will collect your loved one and transport them into their care. This sounds helpful but it leads to bills and invoices which are very high, we then have to negotiate with these companies to start the repatriation procedure and transfer into our care. This can be eliminated if you appoint us or another repatriation company to start procedures right away. We can then transport your loved one directly into our care before the hospital contacts their partnered funeral home.
Once the repatriation process is complete, we are able to book flights to most international destinations, even if they require to connect in the USA.
Repatriation from Alaska
We are able to support the repatriation of remains from Alaska. The process followed is similar to other US States however the process can sometimes be complicated if there is a delay in appointing a funeral home.
Once the repatriation process is complete, we are able to book flights to most international destinations, even if they require to connect in other US or Canadian airports.
Repatriation from Guam, Micronesia and other US Territories
We are able to support the repatriation of remains from Guam, Micronesia and other US Territories. The process followed is similar to other US states however the process can sometimes be complicated if there is a delay in appointing a funeral home. As with repatriations from Hawaii, hospitals in these locations do not have the appropriate mortuary facilities so they often contract with a local funeral home who will collect your loved one and transport them into their care. Whilst this sounds helpful, it tends to lead to high invoices and bills, and we have to negotiate with these companies before starting the repatriation and transfer into our care. This step can be eliminated if you appoint us or another repatriation company to start procedures right away. We can then transport your loved one directly into our care before the hospital makes contact with their partnered funeral home.
Once the repatriation process is complete, we are able to book flights to most international destinations, even if they require us to connect at another international airport such as Japan, Singapore or Dubai.
We once managed a complex repatriation of remains from Chuuk, Micronesia back to the UK. You can read our case study about this case here.
