How body repatriation to Bulgaria works
At Homeland International we provide everything required for the repatriation of remains to Bulgaria. Typically, repatriation usually takes between 10 to 14 days as we have to wait for the death certificate to be legalised, however in certain situations such as if a coroner is involved this may extend the time frame slightly. Once in our care, our team will care for the person who has died, complete the embalming which is required for repatriation and prepare the coffin for international transportation. Once the UK documents are all issued, we then work closely with the Bulgarian embassy and have the coffin sealed with them and the documents are then issued to us to finalise the repatriation.

Airports we can fly to in Bulgaria
Most International airports in Bulgaria are possible to repatriate to but outside of Sofia options can be extremely limited due to the airlines operating those routes. We are usually able to arrange repatriation of remains to Sofia most days of the week on direct flights with the likes of British Airways. On arrival it is usually the company or person appointed by the family who will collect.
