How body repatriation to South Africa works

At Homeland International we provide everything required for repatriation to South Africa. Typically, repatriation usually takes between 7 to 10 days, however in certain situations such as if a coroner is involved this may extend the time frame slightly. Documents Required for Body Repatriation to South Africa

There is paperwork which needs to be applied for and obtained prior to repatriation. Some of these we require you to provide to us, the remainder is managed by Homeland International. This is described below:

  • Passport of the deceased person (Must be a South African National)
  • Two Death Certificates
  • Homeland International Authorisation Form (this will be sent to you for completion)
  • Letter to the Embassy requesting repatriation

  • Embalming Certificate
  • Funeral Directors Declaration Certificate
  • Air Waybill document from airline
  • Health Permit from South Africa
