Repatriation of Body from Ireland to the UK
Repatriation of remains from Ireland is a process Homeland International support with on a regular basis. This can be completed via road and ferry or by air, whichever the family would prefer. Road can be a more cost effective option but sometimes families prefer the idea of repatriation by air which is more common worldwide.
We are happy to manage repatriation either way, and are well experienced in the process. Our team are available 24/7 and understand all requirements for repatriation of remains from Ireland to the UK.
How Body Repatriation from Ireland works:
Repatriation from Ireland to the UK usually takes between 5 and 7 days. We will collate the local paperwork such as an export permit and free from infection letter.
Many people think the process should be paperwork free given the close relationship and proximity with the UK however it is important to understand that these are two separate countries so repatriation paperwork is required and therefore time frames extended.
Once the paperwork process is complete, we can begin planning transport arrangements back to the UK. Whether the transport to the UK is by road or by air, we will arrange transport back to your chosen funeral directors, wherever they are in the UK.
If by air, we will arrange the customs process at the arrival airport and the transport to the funeral directors. If by road, we will transport to the door of the funeral directors and provide them with all the original paperwork.
